BEMÆRK: Ansøgningsfristen er overskredet
Do you want to be part of developing Denmark's future high-voltage electricity transmission network, where extensive investments over the next many years are required for the green transition?
As a Power system specialist in our Electrical Analysis department, you will have the opportunity to apply your solid knowledge of power systems, while also having the opportunity to directly influence the future Danish electricity network during both the analysis and project phases. Your new place of work will be at our office in either Fredericia or Ballerup.
You will be part of an organization, where flexibility and work-life balance are high on the agenda, and you will therefore be offered IT equipment for a good home office setup, for you to vary in the best possible way between being at our office or at home.
Become a specialist in transient studies
You will be part of a well-established department consisting of 13 skilled colleagues, who are jointly responsible for insulation coordination, reactive power compensation and power quality in relation to the design of future electricity transmission network projects, including connection of renewable electricity and major consumers such as PtX plants. The department has a primary role in solving the technical challenges related to the transition from overhead lines to underground cables, and the transition to a power system consisting of converter-based production and consumption units, as well as new HVDC connections.
This leads to new and exciting projects e.g.:
- We are at the forefront of developing detailed EMT models and innovative methods to enhance power system resiliency. Our focus is on ensuring the adequacy of protection devices against transient overvoltage’s, utilizing advanced simulation tools like PSCAD to model and analyse equipment insulation under various stress-conditions.
- Our EMT design studies are crucial in integrating solar, wind and PtX substations. These studies enable engineers to design robust and efficient substation infrastructures by thoroughly analyzing the transient behavior and response of electrical system
- With the widespread adoption of HVDC technology, especially multiterminal HVDC and energy island projects, it requires effective insulation coordination design to ensure equipment safety and reliability while also keeping the cost low.
To succeed in this job, it is important you have knowledge of EMT phenomena and how to identify and investigate these. In addition, you are able to apply specific mitigating solutions, such as designing surge arresters or specific switching strategies. It can be advantageous, but not a necessity, if you have knowledge of power quality, including harmonic propagation and distortion.
You can look forward to an exciting position at a high professional level, with technical responsibility for conducting insulation coordination studies. You will be part of a professional environment, where you can immerse yourself in advanced analysis methods and models for the entire Danish transmission network.
The tasks are therefore specialized and may include the following:
- EMT modelling in PSCAD using grid equivalents with network reduction in PowerFactory and subsequent verification of models.
- Modelling underground cables and overhead lines based on geometric data and specifications from manufacturers.
- Performing switching transient studies, transient recovery voltage studies, temporary overvoltage studies, and lightning studies for AC systems in PSCAD.
- Performing insulation coordination study for HVDC systems, including transient overvoltage study, grounding resistor sizing to avoid zero-miss, AC breaker requirement study, etc.
Analytical profile with a collaborative approach
Ideally, you have a master's degree or PhD. specializing in power systems, or you can demonstrate you have acquired similar competencies in other ways, e.g. through specific experience with insulation coordination studies. It is also a valuable asset if you have experience with EMT analyses in PSCAD and experience with PowerFactory.
We are open to both experienced and newly graduated candidates, since we have a variety of assignments with different complexity. You are able to further develop and optimize the scripts, processes and guidelines used in the department. You are highly proficient in both spoken and written English, as you will collaborate with both internal and external specialists, colleagues from other TSOs and universities as part of your daily work.
On a personal level, you have a good sense of analysis and a systematic approach to your tasks. You work effectively and you adapt easily to new and varied activities. You are team-oriented and cooperative with the abilities to both share knowledge at a high technical level as well as communicate in a clear and concise manner with people having a different or non-technical background.
